Job Category: EditorialPosition Description: Main responsibilities:
  • Oversee the archiving of WR/GS publishing assets using Reader’s Digest’s MediaBank and all relevant RDAi archiving systems. Starting with the newest products, and working backwards through the older products, collect and package every active product so that it can be archived and accessible in Media Bank.
  • Manage our assets including fonts and royalty-free CDs and maintain the license agreements for these items.
  • Organize our server, including setting up job folders and maintaining the integrity of the folder system.
  • Create and communicate electronic production guidelines to freelancers and outside vendors.
  • Create templates from design files, and check templates created by outside vendors.
  • Check files sent in by outside vendors, and preflight files before sending out to the printer.
  • Manage the reprint list, from start to finish: clean up and organize the older files to get ready for MediaBank as they are reprinted, make the necessary updates to files as needed, and create printer-ready PDFs.
  • Coordinate with marketing to send product images where needed.
  • Help create and maintain the product image library, for Gareth Stevens and Weekly Reader Supplemental Publishing including both the editorial and marketing needs.
  • Work with IT and design to plan for electronic production needs, including software, and hardware upgrades, font purchasing and server space needs.
  • Flow manuscript into templates, and do page-production work as needed.
  • Create and disseminate product PDFs for Lexiling, e-books, to Teacher’s Guide vendors, and for the Web group as necessary.
  • Assist in uploading and downloading files to and from vendor FTP sites.This position reports to the Creative Director for WRPG Curriculum and Library Publishing.
